so it's all over for another year, christmas came and went in the blink of an eye!
it's strange how so much preperation can go into one day, and it's over before you know it.

Roll on the New Year!
i'm going over a friends house tonight to celebrate for new year, will only be a small intimate gathering. i'm looking forward to welcoming the new year in and taking a deep fresh breath of night air at midnight, bracing myself for the year to come.
i'm unsure of what to expect for 2006, a lot of things are going to be different. i just hope that it will be a better year than 2005.

yesterday Kevin and I went to talk to our solicitor and sign papers concerning the house purchase, all went well and we now have an estimated contract signing date - 6th jan, and an estimated completion date - friday the 13th of january! ( i don't know whether to be suspicious about that or not).
it's going a lot quicker than i anticipated and we should be looking to move in for mid Jan. yippee.

i had a lovely weekend, my parents came to stay, it was so good to seem them after such a long time! we went out for dinner and the food was absolutely delicious! yum yum! we had so much to talk about, i didn't want them to leave. we took them to see the house we have bought and they really liked it, they got the same feeling of it being not just a house but a home.

i'm nearly all prepared for christmas now, just one present left to finish. i'm making a beaded mirror frame for a friend and it is taking me hours! lukily she is away til the 27th dec so i have a few extra days to get it finished.
i'm actually feeling quite excited about christmas this year, normally i'm not that bothered. i'm really looking forward to seeing Kevin's face when he opens the gifts i've got him.
this will be our first christmas together by ourselves, we wont be visiting family til after christmas, which will feel quite strange i think. it will be nice though as we can start building our own christmas traditions together.

at the weekend i recieved a card from Jen Suttorp (not sure if you have an LJ), thank you Jen!

ok so it seems the whole mess up with the names on the mortgage will be fine after all, the lender just need to issue an official notice of the correct spelling of Kevin's name or something.
so that means we are definately approved for a mortgage, yippee!
now the whole mumbo jumbo can get underway with the solicitors, that apparently takes up to four weeks, i hope it's nice and quick!
my parents are coming to visit this weekend, i can't wait, i haven't seen them in nearly six months. we have arranged another viewing on the house at the weekend so my parents can have a look.

i've been wrapping presents this morning, it's started to make me feel all festive. it's taken me a while to get into the spirit of things this year, just doesn't feel like christmas is just a little over a week away.
it's not the same when you're grown up, being a child or having children around at christmas MAKES it feel like xmas, because it really is magical to them.

mortgage issue

grrrr! we are having problems with our mortgage lender. yesterday we had a letter saying they will give us the mortgage (yay!) BUT they have spelt Kevin's name wrong on all the documents. this is probably going to mean that they have to do all the credit checks and what not all over again, all because they missed out ONE letter from his name *sigh*! it's stupid though as i don't see how they could have credit checked us under the mis-spelt name anyway, as that person would not exist at our current address, you would think that would start alarm bells ringing. stupid stupid bank!
Tensions between me and Kevin are high at the moment all because of this, he's often getting wound up and we are arguing over really stupid petty things. i hate it. i can't wait until this is all over and we can settle into our new home.

on a more positive note, thank you all of you who left lovely comments about my artwork in my previous entry ((hugs)):)

humungo update

i've not been around much lately becuase i've been soooooo busy. A lot has been happening over the last couple of months.
finally after months of looking, Kevin and I have bought a house! well we are still in the process of applying for a mortgage, it takes ages here, around 4 to 6 weeks! gah! and then the conveyancing takes around another 4 weeks and then there are all the surveys to be done too!
it's a lovely house though, in great condition, lets see if i can post up a picture.....

it's not the greatest picture, but is the only one on the estate agents website, i'm still yet to take any myself.
there is an old lady living there at the moment and she is just lovely, she will be leaving some of her furtiner behind which is a great help as we simply wont have the money to buy all new furniture for the house.
what i love most about the house are the gardens, there is around 3 or 4 times the amount of space i have now in my rented house. i cannot wait to get stuck in!! i love gardening, a bigger garden was one of the priorities we had when buying a place.
the house is in a suburb of the city we live in, it's called Cwmrhydyceirw (cum-reed-ee-kie-roo) (i live in wales if you didn't guess) and it means reindeer valley, i think that is so wonderful! :)

we are still patiently waiting to be approved for a mortgage, (dawn i have been reading you journal, i so know what you have been going through with all the waiting to be approved!) and at this rate i think we are looking to move in around early to mid february.... roll on the new year!!

we now have a new addition to our family.... a kitty!

her name is Nimue, well actually she is a he. being a tortoishell we assumed that he would be a girl, (as tortie's are almost exclusively female due to the way the coat colour is inherited)but when we took him to the vet we found out that he is actually a boy. it is very rare. he is kind of a boy and a girl, having three chromosomes - XXY. Basically he is a boy with female characteristics.
we still decided to keep the name Nimue anyhow. we've had him for nearly 3 weeks (he's around 4 months old now) and i can't believe how much he has grown. we adopted him from a cat charity, where he was being fostered, and i am glad to say that he is very happy in his new home.

i've been crazily busy with doing everything for christmas, making presents and decorations and also finally getting round to doing my xmas card design. i've very nearly finished it, and will post up the painting later today if i get a chance.

uggg, i feel so tired and miserable today - just like the weather.

i had big plans today to do lots of art, but am still yet to even look at my sketch book. i want to try my hand at some ACEO's, challenge myself and see if i CAN paint that small.

i've got this fae floating round my head, she's been there for weeks now. i've sketched her and tried to colour in coloured pencil but didn't like it, then i tried with pastel which looked ok, apart from the eyes.

shes an autumn fae, any is going to be another mixed media piece with autumn leaves and other bits and pieces.

gah! my scanner is being a freak! i want to post up a pick of the sketch but i'm gonna have to reset my pc.

Hi im new here, my names Rebecca. I live in Wales - thats the bit that sticks out of the western side of England, however i was born in the beautiful county of Devon (oh how i love thee) many years ago. i moved here a few years ago to attend university, and now it's my home.
i live with my wonderful borfriend (mwah), and my many plants!
i am an aspiring fantasy artist, the fae and nature are a huge inspiration to me!
my main passion is herbal medicine, but i'm here to share my art and hopefully make lots of new friends!!
